A Prayer for our Bishop Search - Updated October 2026
Good and gracious God, who calls us to share in the fulfillment of your purposes: We, the people of the Episcopal Diocese of Wyoming open ourselves to your divine providence as discernment begins across the church in the search for our next Bishop. Keep those listening for your call attuned to your voice; open their hearts to the possibility of being raised to this work . Make the one that you have set aside for us known, that with their leadership, this diocese may enter a new season of life in you. We ask this through Jesus Christ, our Shepherd and Lord. Amen.

October 1, 2026 | Diocesan Profile Released; Nominations and Applications Open
The diocesan profile is published, and the nomination and application period begins.
October 21, 2026 | Nomination Window Closes
Nominations close. Nominees have until November 6 to complete their applications.
November 6, 2026 | Application Deadline
All completed applications are due.
November–December 2026 | Application Review and Initial Interviews
The Search Committee reviews applications, conducts initial interviews, and begins reference and background checks.
January - February 2027 | Candidate Discernment and Slate Preparation
The Search Committee continues discernment with candidates, completes follow-up interviews and checks, and prepares the proposed slate for the required review.
March 1, 2027 | Initial Slate Announced
The initial slate of candidates is announced.
March 15, 2027 | Final Slate Released
The final slate is released, along with participation details for candidate gatherings.
Early–Mid-April 2027 | Candidate Walkabouts and Online Gatherings
Candidates participate in gatherings across Wyoming and online, providing opportunities for members of the diocese to meet them before the election.
May 1, 2027 | Bishop Election
Clergy and lay delegates gather to elect the next bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Wyoming.
October 9, 2027 | Ordination and Consecration
The diocese celebrates the ordination and consecration of its new bishop.
This schedule is subject to change. Further will be shared by the Search Committee throughout the process, and by the Transition Committee beginning when the slate is announced.

In March, members of both committees will join the Standing Committee for a leadership retreat in Riverton. Following the retreat, the Search Committee will begin organizing listening sessions across the diocese, to be completed in early summer. These sessions will help shape the diocesan profile that will guide our search.

A Holy Beginning to the Bishop Search
On March 20 & 21, the Standing Committee gathered the Bishop Search Committee and Transition Committee for a meaningful retreat as the Diocese begins this important new season.
